Flirty Watercolour for Just Add Ink #314

Watercolouring a background is such a simple yet effective way of quickly making a card. When I saw the inspiration challenge over at Just Add Ink this week I immediately thought of watercolouring a background using some of the colours in the inspiration photo.

This is what I ended up with.

It is super easy to achieve as long as you are happy with it to do it's own thing and turn out how it wants. Watercolour has a mind of it's own. I have 2 tips for you so that you can achieve great backgrounds.
  1. Wet your watercolour paper with water in the general area that you want to put colour. This helps the inks to blend and not get too many hard lines.
  2. Don't overwork the ink. The key is to stop just before you are totally happy with it. As it dries the colours blend a little more and start to look great.
A sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink and a small mat in Basic Black Cardstock on a card base of Flirty Flamingo completes the design.
